Global construction machinery industry issues joint declaration on PFAS
The global construction equipment industry, represented by multiple international associations, have co-signed a first worldwide Declaration on PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances) restrictions.
The Declaration highlights the critical role of PFAS in construction equipment industry's operations and calls for a coordinated and substance-specific regulatory approach to PFAS restrictions.
CECE, together with its co-signatories, argues that broad restrictions on PFAS would severely impact the industry, affecting safety, durability, and environmental compliance of construction equipment. Instead, we advocate for regulations focused on high-risk PFAS, emphasizing prevention of chemical release, proper waste management, and recycling.
The co-signatories also call for harmonized global definitions, sufficient transition periods, and specific exemptions to support their industry’s sustainability and innovation.
