For an ambitious EU industrial strategy: going further

BRUSSELS -  Continuing the efforts of the #Industry4Europe coalition, CECE and 118 European industrial associations recently co-signed the Joint Reaction Paper “For an ambitious EU industrial strategy: going further”.

At the beginning of 2017 CECE has signed the Joint Declaration for an ambitious EU industrial strategy. The coalition of associations have worked together in the past months, towards developing a common reaction paper to the European Commission's Communication on 'Investing in a smart, innovative and sustainable Industry: a renewed Industrial Strategy for Europe', that was announced by President Juncker and published in September.

Representatives of the vast array of industrial sectors put together key objectives for an ambitious and competitive EU industrial strategy, which include business-friendly environment and governance, market-ready skills & training, research and innovation, access to finance, internal market, trade and international market access. The Signatories are counting on the continued cooperation with the European institutions towards implementing the new ambitious industrial strategy.

The Joint Reaction Paper was officially presented to all Member States by UNIFE Director General Philippe Citroën and the co-Rapporteurs of the 6 working groups during the meeting of the Council Industry Working Party that took place on 23 October.

The content of the coalition paper was presented by CECE to Mark Nicklas, Head of Unit, Innovation Policy and Investment for Growth, European Commission in a bilateral meeting.

In light of such a renewed political focus for a Renewed EU Industrial Policy Strategy, the second European Industry Day will take place on 22-23 February 2018. Please mark your calendars – planning and ideas on CECE's involvement are coming up.
