ECHA publishes REACH restriction proposal for PFASs
On 7th February ECHA published the long awaited REACH restriction proposal for polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs). The restriction, that can now be consulted on the ECHA website, will cover around 10 000 PFASs which are considered highly persistent in the environment. Moreover, it aims to reduce emissions into the environment and make products and processes safer.
ECHA’s scientific committees will now start evaluating the proposal in terms of the risks to people and the environment, the impacts on society and a six-month open consultation will start on 22nd March 2023. To better understand the proposal an online information session will be organised on 5th April 2023 to explain the restriction process and to help those interested in participating in the consultation.
CECE is evaluating this broad and complex proposal which includes many PFASs uses in different products. The PT3R group will intensively work on this file with the objective to secure that voice of the construction machinery is heard during the upcoming public consultation.
