CECE meets CEN-CENELEC to discuss the common priorities in the next EU legislative term
On 28th August CECE had a bilateral meeting with the strategy and governance department of CEN-CENELEC, oragnisation which services provide platforms for the development of European Standards and other technical specs.
In April this year CEN-CENELEC launched their “Standards Build Trust” Declaration built upon the principle that standards help Europe meet today’s technological and societal challenges, as well as support Europe’s priorities through improving business performance and creating trust.
Their declaration rests upon 5 blocks:
- a harmonized Single Market,
- a competitive European industry ready to lead in international trade,
- trust in new technology,
- enhanced innovation for Europe,
- the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.
Several messages of CEN-CENELEC coincide with priorities listed in the CECE Manifesto, notably in the area of Internal Market and the New Legislative Framework, International Trade and Digital technology, it was decided to fix a meeting to explore collaboration between CEN-CENELEC and CECE.
The succsesful meeting led to an agreement to start cooperation between the two organisations in this important moment of the new legislative term, with a new Parliament and soon to be, the new Commission. It was agreed to share plans and events as well as exchange best practices.
For CECE this was an opportunity to speak about our #openfactory initiative and the campaign for the creation of a parliamentary intergroup on sustainable industrial competitiveness.
