CECE highlights industry challenges in meeting with European Commission on F-gases

CECE recently took part in a constructive exchange with representatives of the European Commission to discuss the potential impact of future restrictions on fluorinated gases (F-gases) for the non-road mobile machinery (NRMM) sector. The meeting was held as part of a broader alliance bringing together F-gas producers and other users from the mobility and machinery sectors, reflecting the wide-ranging implications of potential policy changes across the European industrial value chain.

The discussion provided an important opportunity for CECE to present the industry's perspective and highlight the technical and operational challenges associated with transitioning to alternative refrigerant technologies across a diverse range of machinery applications. CECE underlined that further innovation and sufficient transition time will be essential to ensure that future solutions meet the sector's safety, performance and operational requirements.

The exchange also highlighted the complexity of the topic, with Commission representatives acknowledging the highly technical nature of the discussions and the need to carefully consider the implications for different industrial sectors.

CECE welcomes the constructive dialogue and will continue to engage with EU policymakers to ensure that the specific needs and realities of the construction equipment industry are taken into account as discussions on future refrigerant policies progress.
