CECE delegation to JTLM gears up for technical discussions in Tokyo
Last week, CECE participated in the last quarterly meeting held online in preparation for the upcoming 34th edition of the Joint Technical Liaison Meeting (JTLM), the international forum bringing together several experts from global trade associations. This year JTLM annual event will take place in-person in Tokyo on 18-19 April, hosted by CEMA, the CECE’s sister association from Japan.
In the context of the online meeting, the JTLM members were required to approve the setting of the agenda proposed by CEMA, compiling all the comments raised and changes made by each member association. As in previous editions, CECE reaffirms the crucial role played in shaping the discussion points to be addressed at the yearly event by delivering a considerable batch of reports and updates on the recent technical developments registered in Europe.
All participants’ eyes will be naturally focused on the most sensitive topics for the industry based on the recent global developments. Specifically, a common industry strategy on PFAS restrictions is high on the 2024 JTLM agenda. As such, the joint declaration on PFAS restrictions is set to be formally voted in Tokyo, following the endorsement of the industry statement at the associations level. Additionally, it is acknowledged that global decarbonisation activity has an increased profile in the JTLM, therefore this year edition will also cover updates on the reduction of pollutants from internal combustion engines and global initiatives on decarbonisation, with particular attention to Europe’s approach.
Next to the updates on the machinery products’ compliance with new Machinery Regulation, NRMM Road Circulation proposal and Outdoor Noise Directive, CECE representatives in Tokyo will share information on the package of digital files recently adopted in Europe, including new requirements for data sharing, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
