Associations calling for more EU investments in transport

More than 30 associations representing the transport, the mobility and the construction sector joined the campaign “More budget for transport – The best Investment Plan for Europe”, launched at the Connecting Europe Conference in Tallinn on 21 September 2017, to demand a stronger commitment from the European Union’s institutions.

An efficient transport network is indispensable to guarantee the conditions needed to ensure the development of key activities - such as commerce and tourism - within Europe. Better transport infrastructure is also an investment in long term growth and jobs: it has been estimated that every billion invested in core infrastructure creates up to 20.000 new jobs.

In light of this, the Trans European Transport Network (TEN-T) aims to implement a sustainable, digital and integrated transport system to be completed by 2030. The main source of funding is represented by the investment programme Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) which cannot cover all expenditure related to the realisation of this project.
