Dear Readers,

This time the CECE Technical Bulletin reports on the debate on decarbonisation held during the Technical Forum of the CECE Congress 2023 – the first CECE Congress after the pandemic!

The construction equipment sector is fully committed to achieving the net-zero emissions targets set at the European and global level. Our manufacturers started contributing to the energy transition with the launch and commercialisation of hybrid, hydrogen and electric low or net-zero machines. However, the availability of alternative energy sources on the jobsites still represents a challenge. The forum developed around two main topics: the use and role of hydrogen in construction machinery, and the electrification process. Marie Poidevin, Vice-chair of the CECE Technical Commission, moderated the debate and guided the exchange of views on the findings and data presented by the speakers.

The forum opened with the preview of the video presentation of the CECE position paper on the role of equipment in decarbonising construction activities – please watch it here.

Best regards,
CECE Technical Policy Team
