Every month CECE asks around 150 senior European construction equipment industry representatives about their opinion on the state of industry. The objective is to obtain a regular business trend indicator and describe the economic climate.
The CECE Business Climate Index summarizes the survey answers on the evaluation of the current business situation and the expectations for the next 6 months regarding sales.
While detailed results including all questions are exclusively available for participants, a summary is available to all CECE members quarterly. To access the results please click here and log-in as member
Second Quarter Summary: The ongoing recovery of international construction equipment market is resembled in the CECE Business Barometer – after the Barometer index had hit an historical record value in April, it stabilized on a high level in May. Meanwhile, the upswing has become broader, as more markets outside of Europe see an improvement of business. Within Europe, Germany and France are currently regarded as the most promising markets, while Nordic countries seem to see first saturation tendencies. In Southern Europe, Spain is expected to pick up further while Italy is losing some momentum. After a very positive evaluation in April, the Russian market saw a setback in May. Beyond Europe, manufacturers are most optimistic about a short-term recovery of the Chinese and Middle-East markets. The optimism about North America and India fades significantly, and Latin America is not expected to see a breakthrough towards a favourable market scenario shortly.
